RIP Michael Jackson - The King of Pop

As a child I can not remember being more excited over a musician than how I felt when I listened to Michael Jackson. Being a child of the 80’s, to me, Michael Jackson was larger than life.
So many fond memories come flying back when I think of Michael Jackson - I can remember running in from playing in the yard to hear Michael’s new song ‘Billie Jean’, from the history making ‘Thriller’, come on the radio. What other performer could make a bunch of 6 year old’s lose their minds trying to moonwalk across the kitchen linoleum. A big smile stretches across my face when I remember going to Epcot for the first time where my little brother and I waiting for hours to watch Captain EO…only to have our minds blown at what we thought was the coolest thing we’d ever seen. And who didnt switch from Coke to Pepsi when Michael did those ‘New Generation’ Pepsi ads? Then into my teen years when Dangerous was released ( selling 32 million copies) waiting anxiously by the radio for the first singles to be released.
These fond memories are what helped to define some of the happiest times from my childhood. To see that man who brought me and millions of other people so much joy die today was a true heart breaker. It is important that we remember him for the great performer and singer he was and not the excentricities of his later life. No other performer will ever be able to match Michael Jackson. He will be forever missed. He truley was the King of Pop.
Here is the song that started a life long love for Michael’s music:
Here is the live perfomance to show how loved he was by his millions of fans and how much of an amazing performer he really was.
